    Description

Mickey Mantle belted a record 18 World Series home runs.  Amazingly, he connected for only five of them at Yankee Stadium.  This is the first.  It's October 1, 1953, and Mantle only a few weeks shy of his 22nd birthday, has just launched a pitch from Brooklyn's Preacher Roe toward the left field seats.  The Classic clout comes at a perfect time.  The two-out, two-run blast snaps a 2-2, eighth inning tie and lifts the Yankees to a 4-2 victory and a 2-0 Series lead over the Dodgers. Three days later, after Brooklyn had tied the Series 2-2, Mantle connected for a grand slam at Ebbets Field to spark an 11-7 Yankee win. Billy Martin's clutch ninth inning single in Game 6 at Yankee Stadium lifted the Bombers to their fifth straight World Championship.
Aside from Mickey, the lithograph also depicts Roe, Campy, PeeWee and the Duke.
