    Description

Rare Muhammad Ali pre-production Artist Proof artwork banned by the U.N..
April 1979, Muhammad Ali donated this drawing to the U.N. to raise money for the people of Namibia fighting apartheid, but the U.N. refused to accept it.  They claimed it was too offensive and insisted Ali revise it by removing the white man, his whip and the caption, “I am the white man”.
Muhammad Ali was not happy about this and even threatened to start his own U.N. that would represent the people and not the hierarchy.  But for the sake of the citizens of Namibia, Ali cooperated and altered his drawing.  November 1979, Ali returned to the U.N. with the revised drawing, the U.N. accepted it and used it for fundraising in the fight against apartheid.
I am offering for sale this 8.5 x 12 serigraph of the drawing Muhammad Ali originally donated and banned by the U.N. (only 16 exist) a beautiful signature, boldly signed and numbered at the bottom in dark pencil.
