This postcard combines the hobby of baseball card collecting with that of philately - the study and collecting of postage stamps. And, with a bit of ingenuity, one could add a third pastime with an autograph of either the pictured player or some other ballplayer (possibly any New York Yankee or a favorite might do).
On June 10, 1989, the United States Postal Service unveiled a 25 cent LOU GEHRIG stamp and made first day cancellations at the Birthplace of Baseball: Cooperstown, New York. Some enterprising person grabbed a pile of TCMA full-color postcards of contemporary Yankees and headed for the hamlet's post office. We have just a couple remaining unsold.
