    Description

This M1917 Bolo was made by Fayette R Plumb of Philadelphia and is dated 1918. This is a true M1917 bolo, not to be confused with the M1917 CT knives that are often seen. These knives were the second step in the simplification of the nicely made 1910 bolo. The early M1917 knives show show nice but simplified fit and finish, and feature a dark parkerized blade and no scabbard catch. The 1917 was made for a short period of time before production ceased in favor of the further simplified and crudely finished M1917 CT bolo. This example has been sharpened and retains 75 to 80% of its original finish, with a fairly sharp working edge. The scabbard appears to be in mint condition and is marked Brauer Bros 1918. The canvas cover fits tight over the rawhide and wood insert preventing it from falling out.I believe the scabbard insert to be of an earlier pattern, as it lacks a spring, and still has the catch for the 1910 knife. Overall, this is a great example of a WW1/WW2 fighting knife.
This listing is for the knife and scabbard only.
