    Description

    This was the first knife bayonet since 1861, it has a single edged blade with fullers, blade marked US. wood grips with flush rivets, the rivets changed in1899 when they were rounded. When first issued in 1884 the blades were blued, in 1895 they went to the bright finish blade. This one was chrome platted some time back to be used for the "Honor Guard" for presentation use (funerals and parades and diplomatic purpose ). The  ricasso is stamped..U.S...the other side has a very early date..1891..This has the correct rolled steel scabbard with the swivel hook attachment . This bayonet measures 16 inches with the blade at 11.5 inches.
