    Description

I AM NOT A MILITARY WEAPONS COLLECTOR.. MY KNOWLEDGE OF MILITARY ITEMS AND THE CONDITION IS LITTLE.  FROM  WHAT I CAN RESEARCH THIS IS A M1905 BAYONET WWI ERA MADE AT SPRINGFIELD ARMORY IN 1916.  I WAS ABLE TO VERIFY ONLINE THROUGH A FEW REFERENCES THAT THE SERIAL NUMBER CORRESPONDS TO THE RANGE OF SERIAL NUMBERS PRODUCED AT THE SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 1916.  I ALSO SHOW PRODUCTION NUMBERS TO BE ON THE LOW SIDE ABOUT 22,000 FROM WHAT I CAN TELL.  MAKING THIS A HARDER TO FIND YEAR.  CONDITION TO ME IS USED.  I CAN ONLY DESCRIBE THIS ITEM TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY.  HANDLES I BELIEVE ARE WALNUT NO EVIDENCE OF CRACKING. BLADE APPEARS IN GOOD SHAPE.  16 INCHES LONG.  SHINEY , NOT PARKERIZED( not sure if I used term correctly).  HAS DISTINCT READIBLE MARKINGS PICTURED.  THERE ARE A FEW PICTURES OF ONE SECTION OF THE BLADE.  APPROXIMATELY A 6-7 inch Section.  SHOWS SOME SCRATCHES LENGTHWISE ON BOTH SIDES.  WAS THIS PART OF THE BLADE SHARPENED? WHO WOULD SHARPEN JUST THAT SECTION?  IT DOESN’T FEEL SHARP.   IS IT POSSIBLE THERE WERE SOME TINY NICKS THAT GOT STONED OUT? I DON’T SEE ANY NICKS, BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN THERE WASN’T.  MAYBE IT WAS STABBED INTO STUFF, OR THE GROUND AND THAT PART JUST HAS WEAR?  BY MY DESCRIPTION YOU CAN TELL I JUST DON’T KNOW.  TO ME BLADE IS STILL GREAT LOOKING, BUT I AM NOT A QUALIFIED JUDGE.  THE INNER CASE I HAVE READ IS MADE OUT OF WOOD??  DOESN’T SEEM LIKE WOOD TO ME, LOOKS LIKE STITCHED UP RAWHIDE.  OUTER CANVAS CASE LOOKS LIKE NORMAL USE, NO WRITING OR MARKINGS.  LEATHER TIP IS NEITHER HARD OR SOFT WITH ONE TINY PUNCTURE MARK ON THE INSIDE VERY END. NOTHING ON THIS SCABBARD OR CASE IS FALLING APART.  APPEARS TO UNLOCK AND LOCK WELL.  THIS ITEM WILL BE FULLY INSURED AND PACKED WELL.  THE POST OFFICE INCLUDES REQUIRED SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION FOR ITEMS INSURED FOR 0 or MORE.  IF THIS SELLS FOR 0 Or more. SIGNATURE WILL BE REQUIRED.  I DON’T WANT TO INCONVENIENCE ANYBODY, BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE POLICY.  I HOPE I COVERED EVERYTHING.  PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS, AND IF YOU NEED ANY SPECIFIC PICTURES, LET ME KNOW.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.
